Stock Market Investing Basics ? Earnings Expectations, Buy the ...

Thanks to new reader Padmanabha for sending along these questions about stock investing. ?I?ll do my best to answer halfway intelligently!

Q: What is the general trend when?quarterly?results are declared? Do people sell ahead of the declaration or post declaration? I am sure people want to make some profit and then buy back if they want to stick to the same stock.

My general observation these days is that stock prices trend days to weeks ahead of earnings announcements, so you are probably better off following the classic ?buy the rumor and sell the news? strategy.

Take Facebook ? it looked great until it actually started trading!

This being said, savvy long-term investors (the handful that are left in the world) are unlikely to sell shares they own before an earnings?announcement?on the anticipation they?ll be able to buy them back on the cheap. ?They would just hang on throughout, and buy more if they feel the stock price was unfairly punished by investors.

On the other hand, if you are like the rest of the world and you?re short term trading, you absolutely want to consider selling before the news actually hits. ?The way things are going, you may eventually need to sell on the rumor itself!

What does it mean by Wall Street?s expectation on a company?s stock? And how does that impact the stocks if once the expectations are set by Wall St.

Wall Street firms assign analysts to cover specific companies and stocks. ?These analysts crank on a spreadsheet to come up with their projected earnings for the company next quarter and fiscal year. ?If a company beats expectations, it?s stock, in theory, should rise, because this good news was (again in theory) not priced in by the market. ?Though I would say trading solely based on earnings projections these days is a really tough game to play, as stock prices are adjusting well before that quarterly earnings release.

If you are investing in a stock for the long run, you probably don?t care what analysts have projected for the next quarter. ?If a company underperforms in the short term, that may provide you with a more favorable price to load up on. ?And remember that analysts rarely project beyond the next quarter or fiscal year ? Wall St does not care about the long run today!

Could you recommend me some reading material around stocks?

Jack Schwager?s Market Wizards books are excellent. ?They are more trading focused, but the whole world trades these days, so they are probably as relevant as ever.

The Bible on stock market investing is Benjamin Graham?s The Intelligent Investor (Warren Buffett cites a heavy Graham influence in his stock market philosophy). ?Peter Lynch?s books are also good ones focused on stocks, though I?m not sure if his strategy would play today.

Check out Jim Rogers? Investment Biker, Adventure Capitalist, and Hot Commodities for entertaining and insightful reading from The Man himself.

Marc Faber?s Tomorrow?s Gold is excellent as well. ?As is Trader Vic by Victor Sperandeo.

Have a favorite of your own? ?Leave a comment below ? ?I?m leaving out a bunch of good ones!

Apple moves closer to iPad 3 sales in China

(AP) ? Chinese regulators have approved Apple's iPad 3, possibly moving the company closer to launching the latest version of its tablet in the fast-growing Chinese market.

The Chinese government's telecommunications equipment certification agency identified the product as A1430 in an announcement dated Monday. That is the model number of the third generation version of the iPad sold in the United States.

An Apple Inc. spokeswoman in Beijing said the company had no comment.

China is Apple's second-largest market after the United States and the source of much of its global sales growth. But the company has released popular products in China behind other markets.

Apple is in the midst of a legal battle with a local company over ownership of the iPad name in China.

How to Find the Domain Name for Your Business

?

Giving your site a name adds something special. It makes the web site yours in a unique way. Names are an individual thing and you probably already have a name in your mind, or have spent hours thinking of a meaningful name that is ideal for your niche. The chance of that name becoming available is slim. Frustration starts when you understand that every domain name you want for your website has already been being used by someone else. But with a little creative thinking you can still find a name you like for your website within the .com world.

?

Your Website Business Name Should be Detailed

?

Most people have read all about keywords and how important they're. With that in mind you may be bent on using a key word or two in your name. For example, if you are doing a website for your own Bed and Breakfast - having "Springfield Bed & Breakfast" for the domain name would make sense if you resided in Springfield. By adding a descriptive word for example urban, historic, uptown, lakeside, evergreen or classic for your keyword Springfield gives you a better chance of getting a domain name and adds a uniqueness to your company.

?

More Brainstorming for Your Domain Name

?

If, however, you want a name for your web-site that's special to you, for instance, your own personal name for the dog walking business. Then adding the town or neighborhood to some name will help people find you. For example "Dog Walking Molly" becomes "Oakwoods Dog Walking Molly" which provides you with another keyword and a better chance of locating the name available.

?

Although, short names are easy for individuals to remember, and a good idea, finding one that's available is not easy. Experiment with the name you would like by adding another short word. If you were hoping to mention your website about Frogs "Frog World" try including Zone, Life or Club to the end. Other good words to increase your chosen name are Edge, Buzz or World. Adding a word before your chosen name, might help, Cool, Hot, Crazy, Hip, All, Just or About are some short words that might help if you add a couple of to the front of your chosen name. For instance "Cool Frog World" or "Crazy Cool Frog World" might be available.

?

?

Starting up a website for an existing business may produce a problem. Often your business name will not be accessible in a .com domain. Try adding your town or location to your existing name. Your store name "Classic Style" could have a domain name called "Queen St Classic Style" or "Parkside Classic Style" which will help when local clients are searching for you. Even adding "s" or "ing" to one of your words may help you find a domain name similar to your existing business name.

?

Think outside the box and experiment with words and sounds, you may be surprised at what domains are still waiting to be discovered in the actual .com world..

Facts in scientific drug literature may not be

ScienceDaily (May 29, 2012) ? A growing concern with fraud and misconduct in published drug studies has led researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago's Center for Pharmacoeconomic Research to investigate the extent and reasons for retractions in the research.

"We were surprised to find the proportion of retractions due to scientific misconduct in the drug literature is higher than in general biomedical literature," said Simon Pickard, associate professor of pharmacy practice and senior author of a study published in the journal Pharmacotherapy.

Nearly three-quarters of the retracted drug studies were attributed to scientific misconduct, he said, "which includes data falsification or fabrication, questionable veracity, unethical author conduct, or plagiarism. While these studies comprise a small percentage of the overall literature, health care professionals may rely on this evidence to make treatment recommendations."

These studies can affect the treatment of thousands of patients, since scientific publications are often printed months in advance. There is an average lag in time of 39 months between the original publication and a retraction notice, Pickard said.

"Once a health care professional changes treatment options, it's not easy to reverse," said Jennifer Samp, a fellow in Pickard's research group and lead author of the study. "Staying current with new findings in scientific literature is a priority for health care practitioners -- especially pharmacists -- and it is important for them to know when a study has been retracted, especially those with manipulated data."

The UIC team found that a considerable number of the retracted papers were attributable to two authors, one based in Japan and the other in Germany.

Little attention was paid to the implications of scientific publication retractions until a 1998 review documented 235 instances from 1966 to 1997; 37 percent of the retractions were due to scientific misconduct.

Since the 1998 study, more interest has been given to retracted studies. In 2009, the Committee on Publication Ethics released the first set of guidelines to editors on issuing retractions.

"These guidelines should help to reduce the extent and impact of scientific misconduct," Pickard said. "Ironically, greater detection may give the impression that fraudulent science is on the rise, when it is actually being mitigated by these policies."

Glen Schumock, director of the UIC Center for Pharmacoeconomic Research, assisted Pickard and Samp in the study, which was funded by the UIC College of Pharmacy and Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A, Inc., which funded Samp's fellowship.

What caused naked face-chewing attack: Bath salts, LSD?

A man was shot to death in Miami after eating the face of his still-living victim. WTVJ-TV's Diana Gonzalez reports.

By msnbc.com staff and news services

MIAMI -- Authorities in Miami are looking for more witnesses after a police officer fatally shot a naked man who refused to stop chewing on the face of another naked man on a busy downtown highway ramp.

Detective William Moreno said police are looking for people to fill in the blanks on what led to the grisly scene in which a witness reported that a man ? later identified by authorities as Rudy Eugene, 31 ? savagely chewed on the other man's face and growled when a police officer told him to stop.

Miami police have released few details about the weekend attack, other than confirming that there was a fatal officer-involved shooting. One officer told Miami television station WSVN?the attacker had likely taken a new potent form of LSD. An emergency room doctor theorized bath salts, a drug with amphetamine-like chemicals nicknamed after the product it resembles, may have induced the violent behavior, reported NBCMiami.com.

The victim, who has not been identified, has been hospitalized in critical condition. Miami's local10.com reported he was a homeless man who frequents the neighborhood where he was attacked.

Read the latest on the face attack on NBCMiami.com

Witness Larry Vega was riding his bicycle Saturday afternoon off the MacArthur Causeway that connects downtown Miami with Miami Beach when he saw the savage attack.

"The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, 'Get off!'" Vega told Miami television station WSVN. "The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin."

Vega flagged down a Miami police officer, who he said repeatedly ordered the attacker to get off the victim. The attacker just picked his head up and growled at the officer, Vega said.

As the attack continued, Vega said the officer shot the attacker, who continued chewing the victim's face. The officer fired again, killing the attacker.

Emergency personnel rushed the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital with 75 percent of his face missing, reported WSVN. An eye, his ears, and his lips were gone, the station said.

"It was just a blob of blood," Vega said. "You couldn't really see, it was just blood all over the place."

A surveillance video camera from The Miami Herald building nearby captured images of the men's naked legs lying side by side after the shooting.

?We?re hoping that he pulls through, for his well-being, but also so he can tell us what happened,? Sgt. Javier Ortiz, vice president of the Miami police union, told The Miami Herald. ?Only he knows.?

Drug-induced excited delirium?
Armando Aguilar of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police told WSVN he believed the attacker was likely overdosing on LSD.

"What's happening is whenever we see that a person has taken all of his clothes off and has become violent, it's indicative of this excited delirium that's caused by overdose of drugs,"?he said. "What's happening is, inside their body their organs are burning up alive."

Excited delirium, a condition that's usually drug-related, can incite violence, unexpected strength, and sometimes hypothermia, NBCMiami.com reported.

Paul Adams, an ER doctor at Jackson Memorial Hospital, told NBCMiami.com the designer drug nicknamed "bath salts" could have led to the attack.

?Cocaine and new LSDs, they cause delirium, which (means) you don't make sense when you take them," Adams said. "And when you don't make sense and you don't control your emotions, you don?t control your actions, you find yourself in circumstances that you just don't want to be in.?

Bath salts were banned in Florida in 2011, said NBCMiami.com. But new formulations have become popular, Adams said.

?We've had several deaths. Earlier last year we probably saw our first deaths from bath salts, where people (were) running onto MacArthur Causeway, under MacArthur Causeway, being chased by the police and then all of the sudden just collapsing," Adams said.

Eugene, the suspect, has just one arrest suggesting violent tendencies: Miami Beach police arrested him on a battery charge when he was 16, which was later dropped, reported The Miami Herald.

He has been arrested seven other times over five years, mostly for marijuana-related charges, the paper said. He was briefly married to a woman he met in high school at North Miami Beach Senior High, court records revealed, according to local10.com. The two divorced in 2007 after he reportedly became violent toward her.

"That's why I left," his ex-wife told local10.com, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Other homeless people who camp near the scene of the attack told local10.com they knew the suspect.

Police asked for the public's assistance in piecing together the attack.

"We know that there were many people on the MacArthur Causeway and we're hoping they come forward," Moreno told The Miami Herald on Monday.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Origin Genesis (i7-3930k)

The Origin Genesis (Core i7-3930K) ($5,894 direct) is an update to the Origin Genesis ($6,499 direct, 4 stars) gaming desktop we looked at in 2010. It has a new six-core Intel Core i7-3930K processor (aka Sandy Bridge?E) and three Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 graphics cards. These are some of the most powerful components you can currently buy, and naturally the system is made to achieve the pinnacle of performance on multiple tasks including multimedia and gaming. Is the Genesis better than our current ?ber-gaming Editors' Choice, the Maingear Shift Super Stock (Core i7-3930K) ($5,289 direct, 4.5 stars)? Read on to find out.

Design and Features

This version of the Genesis uses a lightly customized Bitfenix Shinobi XL chassis, which is a towering, black-painted behemoth with a windowed side panel. It has the look of an imposing gaming rig, worthy of inclusion in the $5K club. The system has six USB 3.0 ports (four on the top panel), whereas others are limited to two inconveniently placed ports in the back. There are seven USB 2.0 ports as well, for slower peripherals like game controllers, keyboards, and mice. There's a specialized "SuperCharge" port on the top of the system, which is a 2.5-amp USB port for charging your phone or tablet; it's a nicety that gadget-laden folk will welcome. The Genesis also has a FireWire 400 port, two Ethernet jacks (each can access a separate network), S/PDIF digital audio out, and analog audio jacks. The three GTX 680 cards provide a total of six DVI ports, three DisplayPort, and three HDMI ports; you can funnel all of this power through a single DVI port, or you can configure a surround setup with three monitors and 3D glasses (sold separately). The Genesis comes with a BD-RE Blu-ray burner that also reads and burns CDs and DVDs. With this system, you're well covered for entertainment.

The inside of the system is roomy, although the video cards restrict expansion somewhat. There is one free PCI Express (PCIe) x1 slot, but the video cards block your access to it. Two solid-state drives (SSDs) in a RAID Level 0 array provide a speedy platform for running your OS and programs, and a 2TB 7,200rpm drive gives you plenty of extra capacity as well. There is also room for an additional three optical drives or 5.25-inch devices and up to five hard drives (which you install on removable sleds). There are only two free SATA ports on the motherboard to service any additional drives, however. There are four free DIMM slots in case you need more than the included 16GB. A 1,200-watt power supply gives the necessary juice to everything, including the interior lighting, accomplished with multiple red LEDs, that gives you a uniform glow by which you see the hardware you've paid so dearly for.

Like most custom-built gaming systems, the Origin Genesis comes preinstalled with the operating system (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit), the hardware drivers, minimal utilities, and not much more. That's a good deal for gamers, who never want to be have an extra piece of bloatware to blame for a poor showing on the game grid.

Performance
Origin Genesis (i7-3930K)

The Genesis oozes performance. The six-core processor has been overclocked to an insane 4.9GHz, which is 100MHz faster than the overclock on the Maingear Shift Super Stock (Core i7-3930K). (Both are miles ahead of the Core i7-3930K's 3.2GHz stock clock speed.) As such, the Genesis is faster than the Maingear on multimedia benchmarks like our Handbrake video conversion (51 seconds for the Genesis, 54 seconds for the Shift) and Photoshop CS5 (2:12 Genesis, 2:15 Shift) tests. But to be honest, you'll hardly notice a difference of three seconds when you're rushing through a project. Both are faster than stock-clocked Core i7-3930K systems like the iBuypower Chimera 4-V1 ($2,499 direct, 4 stars).

Origin Genesis (i7-3930K)

The Genesis' three graphics cards are good for more-than-playable scores on all our benchmark tests at all settings, though ultimately the Maingear proved faster at the DX11-heavy Lost Planet 2. That said, both delivered insane frame rates, though you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between 207 frames per second (fps) and 232fps during real gameplay. If there's any nit to pick about the system's 3D performance, it's that the cooling fans on the graphics cards kick into full-power mode during strenuous gameplay and therefore push a lot of air through the system. It's not a lot compared to some older gaming PCs, but it still produces a din that's hard to ignore in a quiet room unless you're wearing noise-cancelling headphones.

Ultimately, the Origin Genesis (Core i7-3930K) provides an excellent high-end gaming experience, but it's not that much faster than the Maingear Shift Super Stock (Core i7-3930K), which costs more than $600 less. The Genesis is worth keeping on your short list, to be sure, but the better buy remains the Maingear Shift Super Stock.

Most errors are quickly forgotten. Others end up remaking the face of science

Image: Photograph by Dan Saelinger

In Brief

  • Mistakes can push scientific understanding forward. Errors that touch on deep features of the world can be more valuable in the long run than narrowly correct ideas.
  • Famously important scientific mistakes include Niels Bohr?s atomic model, the theory of continental drift (in its original form) and the experiments of Enrico Fermi that led to nuclear fission.
  • Two less well-known errors also stand out: a vagabond physicist devised a faster-than-light telegraph in the 1980s. The hunt to uncover its flaws drove advances in quantum information theory.
  • In the 1940s Max Delbr?ck, the key founder of molecular biology, based his research on a number of incorrect and misleading assumptions. He would go on to win a Nobel Prize.

Perhaps more than any other profession, science places a premium on being correct. Of course, most scientists?like most living humans?make plenty of mistakes along the way. Yet not all errors are created equal. Historians have unearthed a number of instances in which an incorrect idea proved far more potent than thousands of others that were trivially mistaken or narrowly correct. These are the productive mistakes: errors that touch on deep, fundamental features of the world around us and prompt further research that leads to major breakthroughs. Mistakes they certainly are. But science would be far worse off without them.

Niels Bohr, for example, created a model of the atom that was wrong in nearly every way, yet it inspired the quantum-mechanical revolution. In the face of enormous skepticism, Alfred Wegener argued that centrifugal forces make the continents move (or ?drift?) along the surface of the earth. He had the right phenomenon, albeit the wrong mechanism. And Enrico Fermi thought that he had created nuclei heavier than uranium, rather than (as we now know) having stumbled on nuclear fission.

(AP) ? Imagine a tiny snake robot crawling through your body, helping a surgeon identify diseases and perform operations.

It's not science fiction. Scientists and doctors are using the creeping metallic tools to perform surgery on hearts, prostate cancer, and other diseased organs. The snakebots carry tiny cameras, scissors and forceps, and even more advanced sensors are in the works. For now, they're powered by tethers that humans control. But experts say the day is coming when some robots will roam the body on their own.

"It won't be very long before we have robots that are nanobots, meaning they will actually be inside the body without tethers," said Dr. Michael Argenziano, the Chief of Adult Cardiac Surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center in New York.

Argenziano was involved with some of the first U.S. Food and Drug Administration clinical trials on robotic heart surgery more than 10 years ago. Now he says snake robots have become a commonly used tool that gives surgeons a whole new perspective.

"It's like the ability to have little hands inside the patients, as if the surgeon had been shrunken, and was working on the heart valve," he said.

But Argenziano and experts in robotics say the new creations work best when they're designed for very specific tasks. "The robot is a tool. It is no different in that sense than a scalpel. It's really a master-slave device," he said.

Howie Choset has been researching and building robots, particularly snake robots, at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University for years.

Choset believes that his snake robot and others like it help reduce medical costs by making complex surgeries faster and easier. Choset says his new design is smaller and more flexible than earlier models: The diameter of the head is less than the size of a dime.

The size of surgical robots allows surgeons to operate with far less damage to the body, helping the patient heal faster. For example, instead of opening the entire chest up during heart surgery, a small incision is made, and the robot crawls inside to the proper spot.

Dr. Ashutosh Tewari of Cornell University Medical Center has used robotic tools to perform thousands of prostate operations. He said the precision of the tiny robotic tool is vital not just to cutting out cancerous tumors, but to seeing exactly what nerves to leave intact.

Tewari said he's most excited about the potential for surgical robots to do things humans can't do. He said the variety of sensors available for surgical robots keeps expanding, even as they get smaller. He said they may one day be able to test chemicals or blood in the body, or even the electrical connections in nerves.

Choset has also built larger snake robots designed for search and rescue, or just exploration. They can climb poles or trees and then look around through a camera in the head, and slither through places humans can't reach.

"We sent our snake robots into these caves off the coast of the Red Sea to look for evidence of ancient Egyptian ships," he said. "To me archaeology is like search and rescue, but everyone's been dead for 5,000 years," reducing the pressure.

Another expert at Carnegie Mellon stresses that there's still an enormous gap between humans and even the most high-tech robots. Manuela Velosa noted that robots have been built that excel at one or two tasks ? but not at the variety of tasks humans perform without even thinking.

Velosa has been building robots that ask humans for help when they don't know what to do, as well as teams of robots that play soccer against each other. Sometimes, the robots surprise her.

During one soccer game against robots from another university, the Carnegie Mellon team scored on a particular play. That sent a positive signal to the robot's computers, which are designed to reward success and discourage failures in the game.

Her robots then tried the play again ? and scored again. It turned out they had discovered a programing flaw in the other team of robots, just like some sports teams find a flaw in their opponents.

In the second half Velosa's robot's kept using the same play, scoring every time, and thus reinforcing the tendency to try the play over and over. The robots crushed the other team.

"It was programmed by me, but it looked to me as if they learned," she said. "I believe we are much closer to having robots be able to coexist with humans. The beautiful thing is you see the robots learning."

Viewsonic set to laugh at tablet sizes by introducing 22-inch behemoth?

Android Central

Yes, you did read that right. 22-inches. Putting Toshiba's 13-inch effort in the shade, Viewsonic could be about to go where no Android OEM has gone before by introducing a tablet the size of a PC monitor.

Touted as a "smart business tablet monitor," the colossal Ice Cream Sandwich device could be set for it's first public viewing at the forthcoming Computex show in Taipei.

What the average consumer could do with something like this remains to be seen. If it does exist though, it's an interesting concept and exciting to see companies thinking outside the box. Probably wouldn't want to take this on the bus to work though.

No word on prospective specs or pricing for whatever this turns out to be, but at 22-inches, it's not likely to be cheap. Computex is only a few days away though, so we'll know soon enough.

EU says China, US, Japan also have economic work to do

BRUSSELS, May 26 ? The United States and Japan must tackle their tax issues and China must relax restrictions on the yuan, as they share responsibility with Europe for restoring global economic health, EU leaders said ahead of a June summit of the G20 leading economies.

In a letter addressed to all 27 European Union nations, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman Van Rompuy said Europe was doing all it could.

?Europe has stepped up and assumed its special responsibility for securing the financial stability of the euro area and we will continue to do so,? they said in the letter in the run-up to the G20 summit in Los Cabos, Mexico.

?It is now up to all G20 members to enhance their efforts and deepen our cooperation in order to ensure a sustained global economic recovery.?

In particular, it looked to the United States to avoid falling off a ?fiscal cliff?, and called on China to deliver reforms.

?Whilst we are firmly focused on playing our part, at Los Cabos, all other G20 partners should also recognise their responsibilities in building a sustainable recovery,? the letter said.

It said the United States and Japan needed to implement ?credible medium-term fiscal consolidation plans? and the United States must avoid the problems that could result from tax rises and spending cuts meant to take effect at the end of the year.

?We should also call on China to continue strengthening its social safety nets, carry out further structural reforms and move to a market-determined exchange rate.?

For the euro zone area, Rompuy and Barroso reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding ?financial stability? and repeated they wanted Greece to remain in the single currency, while respecting its commitments.

Data had shown EU-internal imbalances were being reduced, it said, although more needed to be done and in this context, it referred not just to countries in deficit, but also those in surplus.

For the Los Cabos summit, Rompuy and Barroso said growth and employment had to be a major focus, but other areas included trade as a source of growth and jobs.

?We will, therefore, call on the G20 to enhance the fight against protectionism and to further strengthen the multilateral trading system,? they said in the letter.

?The recent surge in protectionism is a major concern and the G20 should strengthen the existing monitoring mechanism and improve on notifications and transparency.?

As part of efforts to prevent further crisis, financial regulatory reform was another major theme.

?The EU is well on track to have all financial reforms fully in place by 2013 and we expect our partners to move along with us,? the EU leaders said. ? Reuters

5Tastes Great and is helping me lose lots of weight!
By Ashley D.
Love the taste, first off! I have only tried the vanilla flavor and it has been wonderful. The idea behind me taking this protein drink is actually two-fold. The first is to not eliminate but lower my coffee drinking addiciton (i.e. starbucks use ot be a morning ritual!) and also because it has some calories but not too many, I?ve been using it as a meal replacement for breakfast time. I?m trying to lose weight, and this is helping me get closer to my goal weight.

Since each serving is only 100 calories, you should be prepared for that you will feel hungry about an hour after you drink it. I started taking Yohimbine Powder, 5 Grams Yohimbine HCL 99% Bulk Powder shortly after starting to drink these shakes, and if you are trying to cut back on calories, I highly recommend some kind of natural appetite suppressant, you have no idea the difference it makes, basically a life-saver for me as I?m what you would call a snacker of snacks!

I know some other reviewers have said that stiring the mix works for them but I?m sorry if you really want to enjoy this shake, you need a blender, plain and simple. I could sit there in my kitchen and stir for an hour and it still won?t taste nearly as good compared to blending it for thirty seconds.

5Healthy living clicks with ?Click?
By Tawnya
I use Click everyday in the morning and again aroundd 3pm. It is the perfect protein drink. If you have every tried any other coffee flavored proteins, you will soon taste the superior flavor of ?Click?. It is high in protein and low in sugar a perfect combination for healthier living.

3Tasty protein. Watch the carbs.
By Wendy S.
Very nice tasting protein powder. Tastes like a nice iced coffee. Doesn?t dissolve completely, though. I mixed mine well, and it was still a little clumpy. Not enough to ruin the drink, but enough to get a couple surprises of powder.

One thing I don?t like is the amount of carbs. 12 grams is a lot when you?re only getting 15 grams of protein. I do like that?s it?s low in calories, though. One of the lowest I?ve seen, and for a decent sized shake.

Apple Releases Revised iOS 5.1.1 for GSM iPhone 4

We know how excited you are! Finally, the iOS 5.1.1 Untethered version using Absinthe 2.0 is here. However, for GSM iPhone 4 users we have an update for you.

Just to inform you, and we hope you haven?t updated your iPhone 4 to revised iOS 5.1.1 (Build 9B208). Apple released the revised version for fixes. The fruit company did not describe the changes made on the new build; we hope you are aware of these quiet changes. It remains to be discovered if any update on this revised build will affect your Absinthe 2.0. untethered jailbreak on your iPhone 4.

The original public build of iOS 5.1.1 is 9B206. This is a quiet move from Apple. Last week, the build number was 9B206. You have to be keen on iOS 5.1.1 updates to ensure your jailbroken device runs smoothly. Apparently, Apple needs to fix the GSM iPhone 4 (iPhone 3, 1). As of this writing, there are no available revised builds for other iOS devices.

Based on the number of build, it suggests minor bug fixes for iPhone 4.

This is interesting, and we all know that it was just a couple of hours ago when Chronic Dev Team publicly released the untethered jailbreak using Absinthe 2.0. Was it a coincidence? It was timing. Probably, it was just a plain revised for minor bug fixes.

This is not the first time Apple released a quiet revision of iOS instead of a new iOS firmware update. Do you still remember the tweak Apple released to fix SIM card bugs on iPhone 4S?

We?ll see whether the revised build will fix the iOS 5.1.1 exploits used. For the iPhone 4 users, we suggest you stick to iOS 5.1.1 Build 9B206.

If you have accidentally updated your GSM iPhone 4 to Build 9B208, revert to the old build by simply downloading iOS 5.1.1 Build 9B206 here. Let?s wait for the Dev Team to release a support for this revision. You can revert to the old version as long as Apple continues to sign the Build 9B206.

Fitness May Boost Survival for Women With Breast Cancer

FRIDAY May 25, 2012 -- Women with advanced breast cancer who have higher levels of fitness during treatment tend to live longer than women with lower levels of fitness during treatment, new research finds.

Treatments for breast cancer can weaken women's heart and lung function, according to the study by researchers at Duke University Medical Center, and the impairments can linger for years after treatment has ended.

Among those with advanced breast cancer, women whose fitness level was high during treatment were more likely to survive. Median survival was 36 months among women with high levels of fitness, compared to 16 months among low-fitness patients.

What researchers don't know, however, is if helping women to improve fitness while undergoing breast cancer treatment will boost their survival. They only found an association, not a cause-and-effect link, between the two.

Exercise tolerance tests, which measure heart and lung function, are good predictors of health and longevity in people who do not have cancer, but to what extent those same tests apply to cancer patients is less understood, study author Lee Jones, an associate professor at Duke University Medical Center, said in a Duke news release.

Breast cancer treatments have reduced death rates from the disease by roughly 2.2 percent a year since 1990, but the regimens often take a toll on women's lungs, heart, blood and skeletal muscle. Compounding the problem is that during treatment and after, women are often less active and gain weight, which can also affect their heart and lung function.

In the study, researchers tested heart and lung capacity at rest and during exercise of nearly 250 women at several points during breast cancer treatment.

Overall, women with breast cancer had much worse heart and lung function than healthy women of the same age, even those who were sedentary. For some cancer patients, the decline in fitness level was severe. One-third of the women studied had a fitness level so low that it may prevent them from doing household tasks, walking up stairs or walking a half-mile.

Some breast cancer survivors' heart and lung function remained impaired for years after treatment ended, which may indicate they will never get back their pre-chemo level of fitness, researchers said.

"Fitness level may be an important biomarker of survival among cancer patients," Jones said. "But the beautiful thing about fitness is that we can improve it with exercise training. Although we currently do not know if improving fitness in cancer patients is associated with longer survival, our data provides initial evidence to pursue this question."

The study was published online May 21 in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Speculation now switches to Fitzgerald successor

CHICAGO (AP) ? U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald explained his resignation Thursday on the belief that new blood would be healthy for the office ? turning the speculation to who might end up replacing one of the longest-serving and most highly regarded prosecutors in the country.

Among the things President Barack Obama and others involved in picking a successor will have to consider is whether to select another outsider like the New York-born Fitzgerald or one of Chicago's prominent attorneys.

Might a woman lead the office for the first time in the nearly 200-year history of the Northern Illinois judicial district? And could his replacement drastically change the way the dogged, uncompromising Fitzgerald ran the office for 11 years, pursuing powerful politicians, moguls and mobsters?

"Chicago is in such a pivotal position ? every sort of legal case comes up here," said Phil Turner, a former prosecutor at the Chicago office. "So, as U.S. attorney you affect not just Chicago or Illinois ? but the whole nation."

At his Thursday news conference, Fitzgerald, 51, carefully sidestepped questions about specific names, saying only that it's important "the U.S. attorney be somebody that's independent."

Fitzgerald said he spoke this week with Illinois' top-ranking U.S. senator, Dick Durbin, about issues surrounding possible replacements ? but hastened to add a malfunctioning smartphone complicated that discussion.

"He may have had a conversation with me" about successors, Fitzgerald laughed. "But I had no idea what he said."

Obama will nominate the replacement, but U.S. senators from Illinois have some say. The Senate must confirm the nominee.

Anton Valukas, who held same U.S. attorney's job in the 1980s, said he'd be surprised if Democrats try to permanently replace Fitzgerald before the presidential election and that he expected an interim U.S. attorney to be named while "a serious search" begins.

While Turner says many female candidates would qualify, he wonders if Obama might be reluctant to name one now, potentially opening himself up to attacks of using such appointment to win re-election votes from women.

And there's the question of where the replacement comes from. Former Illinois Sen. Peter Fitzgerald, who recruited Patrick Fitzgerald for the job in 2001, has said he believed the New Yorker's outsider status gave him freer rein to crack down on Illinois' corruption.

But many legal observers say there's no reason that many candidates with strong independent streaks can't be found in Chicago or elsewhere in Illinois.

Former federal prosecutor Joel Bertocchi said one could even argue that an attorney with depth of experience in Illinois and inside the U.S. Attorney's office in particular should have a leg up on a comparable outsider.

"I would say you need to know how that particular office runs," he said.

Fitzgerald, a Brooklyn, N.Y., native, advanced his career one criminal case at a time and earned a reputation as a hard-working anti-corruption prosecutor.

As an assistant U.S. attorney in New York, he successfully prosecuted major terrorism cases, including against those accused in the 1998 bombing of two U.S. embassies in East Africa and in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Despite Fitzgerald's own successes ? including prosecuting two former Illinois governors ? Turner says an intimate understanding of just how Illinois corruption has worked over years should be high on the list of qualifications.

"Doing the job requires having a well-developed sixth sense of how things work around here," he said. Fitzgerald, he argued, didn't always have that.

Turner, who now works as a defense attorney, says private lawyers are hoping for some differences in approach. Fitzgerald had a reputation as too uncompromising, Turner said, someone fond of throwing the book at defendants.

"You jaywalk and he's charging you with conspiracy," he said.

Legal observers also caution there's a tendency to give too much credit to the top prosecutor when a massive support staff, the FBI and other agencies did the bulk of the work.

On Thursday, Fitzgerald said as much himself.

"I've actually been in the shower and heard someone on the radio say the U.S. Attorney did something today," he said. "And I had no idea I had done that, because other people had done it."

Fitzgerald's announcement that he was resigning comes not long after former Gov. Rod Blagojevich reported to a Colorado prison to serve his 14-year sentence. On the day of Blagojevich's 2008 arrest, Fitzgerald drew scrutiny by characterizing the former governor's actions as a "political corruption crime spree" that would "make Lincoln roll over in his grave."

A regretful-sounding Fitzgerald chalked that impassioned comment up to too little sleep and too much coffee.

"It sounded like a good idea at the time," he said Thursday.

Fitzgerald said he hadn't made any decision about what he'll do next, though he ruled out elected office. He did say, however, he could see himself accepting another government position.

"Whenever the phone rings in the future and the (caller) ID says 'public service calling,' I (will) answer the phone," he said.
